The Lidgate Star is located just seven miles from Newmarket, known as the ‘home of flat racing’ and an important centre of horse racing. There are two racecourses at Newmarket, the July course and the Rowley Mile.
Its heritage dates back to the twelfth century when King Henry II established Newmarket as a hunting ground. Beyond its racecourses, Newmarket stands as a hub of equestrianism, home to some of the world’s finest stables and also the location of the National Horseracing Museum. Throughout 2024, the Star are holding numerous events relating to the horse racing community, including visits to trainers, talks at the pub and also race days out for customers.
The pub is open from 16:00 to 23:00 on Mondays to Fridays and from 12:00 to 23:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Pizzas are served from 18:30 until 21:30 on Mondays to Fridays and from 17:00 until 21:30 on Saturdays and Sundays. Other food specials are available from Monday to Saturday evenings and it’s Wings Wednesday every week with unlimited chicken wings. Weekly pie nights and chilli nights are returning in December 2024.
