Saturday is book sale day, the forerunner of our plans to have an annual literary festival at the Star. We’ve been talking to customers about this and are delighted to already have some volunteers to help, we’ll be talking about this a lot over the next few weeks. Second-hand books will be sold and all of the proceeds donated to Duchenne UK, our house charity. Any donations (and thanks to Janet for a kind donation of books) of books are gratefully received. Any unsold books will be used at the Star for people to read or swap as part of a new village book swap and library. The event is from 12:00 until 18:00.
2 Feb 2024 : Wear Red Day
Wear Red Day raises awareness of heart disease. To mark the event, any customer wearing red can get a pint of real ale for £2, a glass of house wine for £2 or a soft drink/coffee for £1. Donations to heart disease would be lovely! Although initially an initiative from the United States, it is also now marked in the UK and all awareness of heart disease is a great thing.
