We have Three Blind Mice beers on keg and can, as well as often being on cask. They’re popular beers and many customers are looking forward to this ‘meet the brewer’ event. Try several beers for £7.50. The event is at 19:30, but we recommend arriving from 19:00. Pre-booking isn’t required for this event.

9 Feb 2024 : Gin Tasting – Copper Lion
Minnie from Copper Lion Distillery is coming to the pub on 9 February 2024 to lead a gin tasting evening starting at 19:30. More details nearer to the event, but their web-site is at https://www.copperliondistillery.com/. A great way to try the gin and hear more about this small company’s story. 8 Feb 2024 : Meet the Brewer – Mauldons
We hold two ‘meet the brewer’ events where customers can come to the pub and listen to a talk from a local brewer about their business and products. For £6, customers can try a number of beers from Mauldons. The event will take place from 19:00 on 8 February 2024, with more details coming soon. Mauldons are the oldest brewery in Suffolk and have been brewing ales since 1795.
2 Feb 2024 : Wear Red Day
Wear Red Day raises awareness of heart disease. To mark the event, any customer wearing red can get a pint of real ale for £2, a glass of house wine for £2 or a soft drink/coffee for £1. Donations to heart disease would be lovely! Although initially an initiative from the United States, it is also now marked in the UK and all awareness of heart disease is a great thing. 26 Jan 2024 : Star Pub History Evening
We’re having an evening at the Star starting from 19:30 where there’s a discussion about the history of the pub. Not just the building itself, but also about past customers and publicans who have become part of the pub’s history. Anthony Foreman, a village historian who has written a number of books about Lidgate, will be giving an introduction to the heritage of the building. We encourage others with memories of the pub to come along. Everyone welcome to listen in, or take part if they wish. There’s no charge to attend.
18/21 Jan 2024 : Craft Can Festival
We’ve postponed our real ale festival whilst work continues on our new ground floor storage area. Instead there’s a craft can weekend and the real ale festival will be held in early February 2024. Future festivals will still be on 21 to 24 March 2024 and 23 to 26 May 2024. There will be daily offers posted here, starting on Thursday 18 January with any three cans of Three Blind Mice for £10 (choice is Juice Rocket, Melon Bomb, Small Town Hero or Jerboa). Drink in or take away.

The second in our ‘meet the brewer’ evenings was on 12 January 2024 with John from Humber Doucy brewery. The event proved popular and we permanently stock all of the bottled beers from Humber Doucy.
