We’re looking for a manager to run the Star. We took over in December 2023 and have transformed the pub into a drinks-led venue with home-made pizzas available every evening. We’re won a few awards along the way and the owners are looking in the new year for a second venue.

This means that we’re looking for a manager to run the Star alongside the four staff, leading the pub into its next chapter. Some pub experience is required (ideally some form of pub management), but we’re primarily looking for someone who is engaging, personable and keen to surprise and delight customers with the pub’s offering.

We have a wide range of beers (over 150), we were the CAMRA branch pub of the season earlier in the year and we want to develop our range of events. The current manager will be able to support the new manager and assist with some of the larger-scale events that are planned. These include larger beer festivals with weekend camping, a literary festival, history weekends and walking festivals. We also intend to widen our food offering at weekends, broaden our appeal and support more pub teams.

The Star is very much of a concept pub and the aim is to acquire more venues, so this is a chance to get involved at an early stage. We have a long way to perfect what we’re doing at the Star, offering ever more to ensure the pub’s long-term sustainability, so this is an exciting opportunity.

The manager will be able to live-in the pub in the three bedroom accommodation. This accommodation will be provided free of charge and all bills will be paid for.
